“The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel.”
- Steve Furtick

Whether it’s on social media or in life, it’s a simple fact that we tend to start comparing ourselves to others, especially when we’re in a more enhanced vulnerable state. How does her life look so effortlessly perfect, while I’m barely keeping it together? Why can’t I look that good in a bikini, when all i’ve been doing is working out every single day and barely eating anything? How can someone have such a glamorous job, when I am completely miserable at my 9-5 office job?

Look at how perfect her life is.

This self sabotage mechanism / obsession is best expressed by Steve Furtick, who once said, “The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel.”

We rarely get to see, if not ever, the reality behind the exterior of a carefully created / edited Instagram feed or a polished personal brand. If we did, we might not feel so jealous, sad, angry or even depressed.

To all of my young fans who message me saying "You're perfect" and "I wish I had your life"... Let me tell you that I am no where near perfect, I do not live a perfect life and I definitely have my fair share of shitty days. Did you know that behind a majority of my beautiful shots that I took in Bali, I had severe Bali Belly and severe Prickly heat rash and almost got rushed to Emergency? At times, all I wanted to do was cry to my parents and go home. Did you know how many times i’ve been rejected just to book that one gig? Let me be the first to tell you, that there have been M A N Y times. Did you know that this “glamorous” Entertainment industry that I am in, at times can make you feel isolated with the world, make you feel completely empty and not good enough? These are just a few of my “behind-the-scenes” that I don't post about, just like other "perfect people" who live "perfect lives" don’t post about.

Don’t get me wrong, I am very grateful for my career, I love what I do and I love my life, but there is no such thing as perfection.
